Code Art Miami

Code Art Miami

Join us at MAGIC — MDC’s state-of-the-art Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex — for the 2nd annual Code Art Miami event! We showcase art created by girls through computer programming and bring awareness to the need for more gender diversity in computer science. Event proceeds go towards a scholarship fund for a woman enrolled in one of MAGIC’s two-year animation and gaming programs.

Code Art Miami highlights the creative side of coding and provides a vehicle to inspire girls and young women to learn to code and to showcase their creations. It also fosters a sense of community among the participating student groups and paves the way for future collaborations.

The inaugural Code Art Miami event was held on February 6, 2016. It was a great success! There was a digital art exhibition with over 100 student submissions, a speaker symposium, interactive displays, and the announcement of the contest winners. To further the cause of gender parity in computer science, we also raised proceeds at the event for a scholarship fund for women enrolled in one of MDC MAGIC’s two-year animation or gaming programs. The event raised enough funds to fully fund a two-year scholarship for one female student.
